I've got the beginnings of a website, with the header and navigation bar already implemented. I also have a main section implemented, but only in absolute positioning. I've tried many things, but how would I go about positioning it relatively? Every time I try, the section and the header get all mixed in with each other. I want the section to display in the middle. Here's my HTML...: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>B by Bruno | A friendly corporation</title> <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> </head> <body> <header> <a href="#"> <h1>B by Bruno</h1> <h6>A friendly corporation<span id="point">.</span></h6> </a> </header> <nav> <ul> <li><a …

Hello. I'm trying to set up a private section of my website for testing and I'm having a problem where my .htaccess / .htpasswd protection always rejects my password. I've set permissions to 604 on both files as recommended by my web host and both files reside in the same subfolder. At first I tried setting the password in the .htpasswd file from OS X's Terminal using the htaccess command. When that didn't work I hashed it using an online tool to generate the hash. It hashed differently but still doesn't work. I'm uploading via Fetch (FTP). If anyone has …

My slider works well enough in all browsers except for IE, where the overflow isn't hidden at all. I've tried adding position absolute to some parts and I've tried adding position relative to others, but nothing has worked. Any answer to this would be great. Thanks. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5739741/OMAR/code/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5739741/OMAR/code/easySlider1.7.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#slider").easySlider({ auto: true, continuous: true, numeric: true }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"/> h1{ font-size:180%; font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0 20px; } h2{ font-size:160%; font-weight:normal; } h3{ font-size:140%; font-weight:normal; } img{border:none;} pre{ display:block; font:12px "Courier New", Courier, monospace; padding:10px; border:1px solid #bae2f0; background:#e3f4f9; margin:.5em 0; width:674px; } /* …

I am having trouble with stacking: [Example](http://jsfiddle.net/YMrLd/10/) I need to get **class_span** to have a higher stacking order than **class_div**. I tried to change the z-index but with no luck. Does any one know of any solutions?

Hey guys, so I am trying to do an animation rollover image for this gallery and I did make one of the design but the image is absolute and the positioning changes when I change the screen size. Is there a way I can fix that? I know about enclosing the images in a relative div but I have 8 images and its not working for me at all. Is there is a good gallery rollover animation out there? I am using jquery for that. PLEASE help. I am coop student and a noob :).

HTML...
<div class="title"> <h2>Texytyuyft</h2> </div>
CSS...
.title { position: absolute; height: 14%; width: 65%; left: 5%; top: 5%; background-color: #E8E8E8; z-index: 119; border-top-left-radius: 10px; border-top-right-radius: 10px; } .title h2 { position: absolute; color: #000000; z-index: 1200; }
For some reason the text keeps going under the background. How can I bring the text above the background #E8E8E8? I tried using z-index, but it didn't work.
