If I'm not asking this in the correct forum, please point me in the right direction. I am using System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.GroupPrincipal FindByIdentity in C# to create an object containing the group members (user IDs and names) for the target group. My goal is to iterate through the resulting list of UserPrincipals and print the SamAccountName and DisplayName for each. For some target groups, this is working fine; for others it fails on a user (or perhaps more than one) that throws the following error: > System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalOperationException HResult=0x80131501 Message=The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist. When I use PowerShell’s …

So I’m working on an active directory restructuring project my manager has assigned me to do since the new company name change. Basically the meat and potatoes of it is making new OU containers in the Active Directory and throwing user, printers, computers, distribution and security group objects into their respectively named parent and child OU containers (separated by sites rather than by individual company names which it is/was originally). Last week when I tried to move a handful of computer objects into the new OU child containers I created, it knocked those computers off the domain and violated the …

Hi All, I am trying to retrieve the telephone number from Active Directory for my script, I found alot of examples online, and I tried to implement what I think should make sense (but since I really don't know vb that well, this is problematic). Below is the piece of code:
. . . ''''Get Phone Number from Active Directory using employee ID retrieved from the logged in user Dim dirEntry, de As DirectoryEntry Dim dirSearcher As DirectorySearcher Dim sr As SearchResult dirEntry = New System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry("LDAP://company.com") dirSearcher = New System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher(dirEntry) dirSearcher.Filter = "(employeeID = " & Me.fp.BadgeNo & ")" …

Hello DaniWeb, C#/ASP.Net I have a user and a server. The server has an intranet page/site I need the user(off-site) to be able to see if they are a part of a user group(domain\CN) on the server. Using ASP.Net, and Active Directory search classes(Directory Services, etc) is there a way for the user to navigate to the server/intranet site ... Have info about themselves available so that when they hit the IP/intranet site, the site will have a small gateway that will check for the user name on the machine, compare to what is in ActiveDir(common name) and then pass …

Hello, So I'm attempting to do a bulk creation of users into Active Directory (Server 2008) using Powershell. I have a script but every time it runs it throws a exception error. I have tried to go through and find what is wrong, but I am having little luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Script:
$objOU=[ADSI]“LDAP://OU=Users,DC=notmyrealdchere,DC=com” $list = Import-Csv "userImport.csv" foreach ($dataRecord in $list) { $cn=$dataRecord.FirstName + ” ” + $dataRecord.LastName $sAMAccountName=$dataRecord.FirstName + “.” + $dataRecord.LastName $givenName=$dataRecord.FirstName $surName=$dataRecord.LastName $sAMAccountName=$sAMAccountName.ToLower() $displayName=$surName + “, ” + $givenName $userPrincipalName=$sAMAccountName + “@itas.ca” $objUser=$objOU.Create(“user”,”CN=”+$cn) $objUser.Put(“sAMAccountName”,$sAMAccountName) $objUser.Put(“userPrincipalName”,$userPrincipalName) $objUser.Put(“displayName”,$displayName) $objUser.Put(“givenName”,$givenName) $objUser.Put(“surName”,$surName) $objUser.SetInfo() $objUser.SetPassword(“P@assw0rd”) $objUser.psbase.InvokeSet(“AccountDisabled”,$false) $objUser.SetInfo() …

We have a Delphi app that performs user authentication using the activeds.dll library. However, when running on a 64-bit server, even though the WOW64 processing thunks the library to use the psuedo-32-bit version, we're consistently getting an app crash when attempting to use the library. Any helpful suggestions? Thanks

My aim is getting client's AD login ID for authentication. I tried to use <%String remoteUser=request.getRemoteUser();%> but it returned null value. Actually, I have found a way to solve it from the internet. And it is about doing something on tomcat's file "\conf\server.xml". However, there is no clear step describing how to set it. Is there anyone having idea on this? Please help. Many thanks! Regards, Rafael

Hello, So, I've got about dozen computers or so at home on an active directory network. I do this because the young ones around the house have a tendency to hose computers and its very nice to have everyones documents and whatnot stored on a mirrored volume. The kids only get a couple of workstations that they are allowed access too, namely the ones in their rooms. I want to be able to cut internet access to those computer after a certain period of time. I've got time restrictions in place for login times and screen saver authentication, but the …

Hi guys, with help I've figured out how to set the "user cannot change password" using the code below. I'm now trying to figure out how to remove the property. I thought setting the denied flag to "allow" would work but it seems to do nothing. I would like the code to be using DirectoryEntry and not PrincipalContext if possible as I'm not sure if my app will be using .NET 3.5 on all the servers. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
string PASSWORD_GUID = "{ab721a53-1e2f-11d0-9819-00aa0040529b}"; string [] trustees = {"NT AUTHORITY\\SELF", "EVERYONE"}; ActiveDs.IADsSecurityDescriptor sd = (ActiveDs.IADsSecurityDescriptor)User.Properties["ntSecurityDescriptor"].Value; ActiveDs.IADsAccessControlList …

Do you need to connect your Linux Desktops or Servers to Microsoft's Active Directory (AD)? If you do, now you can learn how to do it straight from the source at Microsoft's TechNet site in the article: Authenticate Linux Clients with Active Directory. Do you wonder why you'd want to do this? It may not be intuitively obvious but there are IT shops out there (maybe even yours) that use Windows exclusively because of Active Directory authentication. Linux is, or was, often excluded because of its inability to integrate successfully with AD. There are a few products like LikeWise Software's …
