I want to learn web programming with Java. I'm using eclipse neon with tomcat 8.5.13. My question is do these tools support asynchronous programming and server push technologies or should I use other tools? Thanks

Hi there! I would like a little help regarding the following code. The following code will wait for a non-blocking socket connection, and then wait to receive a certain packet. When the packet arrives, it will do something and then close connection and reinitialize it in order to be able to accept again. The client side closes it's connection also that's why i completely shutdown this one's also. The problem is that the first time of the loop the operation is successful, but on second attempt, it cannot accept a socket connection and blocks on accept(). On client side i …

Hi all, I've been searching for hours for an answer to this. I can never get help from the google forums, so thought I'd try here. I wasn't sure whether I should post in pay-per-click or web design, but I figure PPC people have experience with this kind of thing. I'm trying to get google website optimizer (gwo) cross-domain tracking working with the asynchronous code described here: http://www.google.com/support/websiteoptimizer/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=151978 My outbound link looks like this:
<a href="http://secure.ultracart.com" onclick="_gaq.push(['_link', 'http://secure.ultracart.com']); return false;">link</a>
But when I click on that outbound link, it doesn't go to the other website. It works if I remove …

Hi, I have a custom httphandler (HttpUploadHandler.ashx) which is used for handling requests from a file uploader. It collects all the files from a client then fires a thread to do some processing on the files. When large amounts of files are added it will throw 'Thread was being aborted' exception. I have checked around on the internet and the going reason for this is that Response.End, Response.Redirect, or Server.Transfer was used. I have not used any of these methods, so it must be called by the system. So my question is this, how can I safely start background tasks …

Hi During the last 6 months or so I've worked on and off on a couple of a classes to send data over network using winsock and asynchronous sockets on windows. Basically my system works like this. The server will send packets on a connection until WSAGetLastError() returns WSAEWOULDBLOCK the server then proceeds to queue the rest of the packets on the connection. When the connection gets an FD_WRITE message it continues to send data where it left off. The problem I'm having is that sometimes the sending will stop because of WSAEWOULDBLOCK but no FD_WRITE message is sent afterwards. …
