I've noticed the last couple of weeks that a hard-refresh won't clear the cache anymore in Chrome... well to me and two clients of mine (we're all on a Mac by the way). Not sure either if there was an update to Chrome recently which might cause this now. Did anyone else noticed this as well? I work with my developer tools always open, so my cache is disabled by default, but asking my clients to open developer tools before refreshig the page, I'd rather avoid :)

I like art and I like web development. I've been out of the loop the last two years and coming back, I see tons of new in-browser abilities. I don't know advanced code but wonder if the Internet can handle serving an adjustable (with scaling limbs), posable mannequin (like those of wood fame) to act as a resource for the drawing community. Android apps PosableLite and Pro have a mannequin of a fixed size; Mara 3D isn't avaiable state-side and others aren't posable. "FigureUp" doesn't offer IK forces and MakeHuman is much too polished; it's for video game assets, not …

Hi I am trying to provide access to a folder of photos. The website is Unix based so I can change permissions. I am using WISE-FTP 8 as my FTP program. I created a directory on the server and intend to upload about 40 photos to it. I uploaded one photo as a test and received a 403 Forbidden. The directory is set to public read.

I am posting this in response to those who ask about replacing the webbrowser (WB) control’s default browser. You cannot ask the WB control to use a different browser, it is hardwired to use the current version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer that is installed on the target computer. It may appear that the WB control is using an older version than is installed; this is not the case. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom made the decision to make IE 7 the default-rendering mode for all applications that use the WB control. This can be observed by visiting this website: http://detectmybrowser.com …

Hi all, I've decided to work on a new project in my spare time and it involves capturing 30 seconds of video from each registered user. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the most widely accepted/compatible method of capturing video in the browser and storing it somewhere such as S3? This is an exploratory stage, I'm googling around but would be interested to see if anyone has any suggestions on here? All the best, M

For instance if the user goes to the Home page first then goes to Projects and then clicks refresh it takes the user back home. My website is http://www.rkara.us This is my first post on Daniweb, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. Thanks for any help.

Hi all, I was at a customers site today, and had a real interesting one. He had a browser hijacker/Malware/Virus that had been detected by Avast (or one of the three of four other AV softwares that he had installed and uninstalled in the past weeks). It was presenting annoying advert pop-ups and unwanted extra windows randomly appearing - some looked convincingly like Adobe upates etc. It is called "ZequitaeKryoniece". No results on Google Search or others for info on the software, No results on the offending PC with a windows search (including Hidden Folders). No results when running Junkware …

I used to be an IE8 user and refused to use IE9 or above due to how when there was a conflict with certain cases, it would allow that case. Chrome sucks and I'm never using it again... I hear it actually has security now, but I'm not chancing it killing my compy again. FF is ok, it has security to protect you from the surface layers, but once you browse past that, you're fully open. I currently use Opera 12 which has been working well so far, though there's a few cases where IE8 has done better... I'd use …

Hello, so I'm completely re-designing and updating files on the website, but the problem is, that everytime I change e.g. index.html file the website stays the same. I think that it has something to do with the browser's cache. It happens more often on Firefox, but I just hit ctrl+f5 and I'm refreshed, but I don't want to tell visitors "So yeah, just hit ctrl f5 everytime and you're good". Is there a simple way to refresh or update the site instead of renaming all files or changing domain etc. I'm really desperate at this point, I still have tons …

The purpose of this short and sweet tutorial is equally concise: how to get the original look and feel of the Google Chrome web browser back after installing on a Windows 8 computer. Having recently been forced into buying a new laptop, I finally took the plunge and decided to start using Windows 8 on a daily basis. In fact I upgraded the Windows 8 OS that came with my Lenovo Y510P laptop to Windows 8.1 Pro, and am happy enough with it apart from a few small UI niggles which I will be addressing in a series of brief …

I'm trying to prefill webforms in iframes using Requests. If that can't be done, does anyone have a script I can use that works with webbrowser? I like that it calls the default web browser in just about any system, which is great for my Android applications. I've tried using splinter, a wrapper to selenium, but it only opens the browser--firefox only--for a second, fills out the iframe, and then automatically closes. Below is my splinter code. with Browser() as browser: browser.visit(url) r = browser.find_by_id('inpage_to_email').fill('ben@me.com') Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Chrome under XP Pro only shows about a quarter of the video but the right scale and aspect ratio. When it comes to web browsers, my general rule of thumb is that the latest version is usually the most secure and this is certainly the case with Internet Explorer. However, when I started using Internet Explorer 11 on my new Windows 8.1 Pro laptop I soon discovered that latest doesn't always mean greatest in terms of usability. If you have read my "[How to return the resize buttons to Google Chrome](http://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/microsoft-windows/windows-vista-and-windows-7-8/tutorials/470978/windows-8-how-to-get-your-google-chrome-resize-buttons-back)" tutorial, you will appreciate that Windows 8 doesn't always give you the UI experience that you are expecting, or that you want. Such was the case when I …

Your web browser provides a window onto the Internet, but unless you are timely in updating the client you use then, say researchers with security vendor Kaspersky Lab,that window may be cracked and allow a draft of insecurity to blow through into your network, your computer and your data. ![firefoxversions](/attachments/small/0/firefoxversions.jpg "align-right") With the majority of online threats coming from the direction of the web, vulnerabilities in web browser clients are increasingly being used in order to infect networks and compromise data integrity.
