I am writting a simple C++ programm and I want to generate outputs to the console but with the functions 'fwrite' and 'printf'. However, I can't print special characters like 'á', 'é', ... Here is a simple code: printf("Special character: 'ñ'"); Were the output was `±` I found that those characters are printed as ascii but they were encoded in Utf8. I don't know how to make this output visible correctly, I'm using the Microsoft Visual Studio. Any help?

Hi folks, I have been making a marquee scroller that reads the text coming from the right to the left, so setting a JLabel's text using setText() starting with 60 spaces and one character-long substring, to zero spaces and 60 character-long substring. I've noticed that immediately, the jlabel's text starts to 'grow'. The first character of the text is moving to the left one character at a time, but the right hand side is (slower than 1 character at a time) moving to the right. This stops when the start of the text hits the left border of the JLabel …

Hi, I've used keylisteners multiple times, but I am having trouble with this situation. I want the keylistener to recognize a series of characters. For example, if 'e' is typed, I want the program to listen for 'l', then 'e', etc. (spelling "elephant", if you wanted to know). It recognizes the first 'e', but does not recognize the 'l' or any different letter afterwards. I'm stumped... Any help is greatly appreciated. I've searched the internet for an answer, but I haven't found an answer (hense why I'm here). If you find an answer, feel free to just post the link …

Ok. As the title says I tried many times to simply write a program that rewrites a file to remove null characters. I confirmed with a hex editor that the file in question has tons on null characters, on average about 1 of every 2 characters in null. So my last attempt: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> int main() { FILE *f = fopen("main2.c","r"); FILE *t = fopen("temp","w"); int c; int count = 0; while((c = fgetc(f))!=EOF) { if(c) { fputc(c,t); } else { printf("null found\n"); } } fclose(f); fclose(t); FILE *n = fopen("main2.c","w"); FILE *w = fopen("temp","r"); while((c=fgetc(w))!=EOF) { fputc(c,n); …

I have a question...I'm trying to get text out of a website containing Spanish characters (like ñ or á) using urllib2 (and with #-*- coding: latin-1 -*- near the beginning of the Python file). However, when I write the output of the text to a file, I get something else--for example, ñ appears as ñ (so español appears as español). Even if I manually put in a line that says something like letter="ñ" and print it to the screen, it appears as ±. Any advice? As I mentioned in the title, I'm using Python 2.7 on Windows 7 (though I …
