Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani Is the Apple Vision Pro worth it if I already have an Oculus Quest? I'm not a big gamer, but I have my entire wedding recorded in VR, and I love watching mini-movies and shows in 3D VR. My husband is into things like Red Matter. I honestly don't remember if I have a Quest 2 or 3. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Reverend Jim … use BigScreen to watch movies but now I find the Oculus TV app better as I can easily change the viewing… Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani Oddly, you are required to go through an hour long tutorial/demo at the Apple Store before they will sell you a Vision Pro. I haven’t had the patience as of yet. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by rproffitt One of my sons spent a lot setting up some other VR gear. And then broke his TV playing a game (punched the TV). 3 years later it sits in a box because it's out of date and new models that are worth buying are not worth buying (not going to rewrite that.) For me, not worth it. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani > some other VR gear Was it not a Quest *or* Vision Pro? I didn’t realize there were any other quality VR headsets on the market. Also, make sure to always play with plenty of space around you. I can’t speak for the Vision Pro, but the Quest is very good at immediately letting you know if you or your arms are approaching out of the gaming… Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Reverend Jim I usually put a square tile in the middle of the floor to stand on when playing Beat Saber. Eleven Table Tennis doesn't need it because I orient myself to the VR table. I play In Death Unchained seated because there are too many vertigo-inducing places in the middle world where I could easily fall over. Some of them make my feet tingle. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani I find it vertigo-inducing to be sitting!! I simply cannot handle when what I see simulates me moving (e.g. walking in a room), but my physical body is not moving. It's fine if things are moving around me, but if *I'm* meant to be walking, I need to be physically walking in order to not get sick. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Reverend Jim I still get vertigo at times when sitting (like jumping and landing on the edge of a cliff) but at least I can't fall down and crack my head. Re: Ja sa bong Here! Community Center Say Hello! by Reverend Jim Finished Red Matter 2 on the Oculus Quest recently. It was very well done and enjoyable. The graphics were excellent. Re: Ja sa bong Here! Community Center Say Hello! by Dani Hello and welcome!! My husband was really into Red Matter on the Oculus as well. Unfortunately, it gave me a bad headache after just a few minutes. Re: Ja sa bong Here! Community Center Say Hello! by Reverend Jim … four dollars. Re: Best Oculus Quest games Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Dani I’m doing good. My boyfriend is now my fiancé, and we are quarantined in our home for now. Re: Best Oculus Quest games Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Reverend Jim That should test the relationship. Have you ever wallpapered together? That's usually a deal breaker. Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Reverend Jim Adam (the son you met in NY) ordered us a Quest 2 and it should arriving any day now. He just got his and he says it is awesome. I'll let you know what we find out. So how you doin'? Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by rproffitt If I were to setup a VR rig I'd look at Half-Life: Alyx. YouTube where a teacher used it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3g9jrqjOZs Not sure if you can pick and choose your experience there but hey, looks great. Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Dani So my fiancé really enjoyed Red Matter. He felt it was more of a puzzle game. And let me tell you ... the graphics for it are really out of this world. I do believe he also played Half Life but I could be mistaken. Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Dani Do you find it too sweaty and uncomfortable to exercise with such a heavy headset on? Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Dani Jim, did you get the Quest yet? First impressions? Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Reverend Jim PS. The cat's annoyed because my lap isn't as available as it used to be. The dog doesn't care as long as he gets walks and cookies. Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Dani Beat Saber is one of my fiancé’s favorite games. We bought this rubber-like covering for the headset that makes it more comfortable when you’re working up a sweat. We also splurged on a standalone 360 degree / 3D camera. We’ve used it so far to record our 2019 trip to Disney World, 2019 Thanksgiving with my mom and grandma, and it was whipped … Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Reverend Jim Check out the video for "Raja Ampat Ecosphere". It's the one that's 15:07 long. It's a 180 coral reef video that is awesome. It's as good as our dive at the reefs in Belize years ago. Re: Favorite Oculus Quest apps Hardware and Software Hardware Mobile and Wearables by Reverend Jim Got the full version of Beat Saber (sic). It is worth every penny. My arms ached for two days but have since adapted to the frantic flailing. Warning - you really need to make sure you are out of arm's rach of any walls or furniture. I'm finding the "hard" setting just too challenging enough. If you pick party mode you can keep high … Happy New Year to All on Daniweb Community Center by Reverend Jim Happy New Year to all. I hope 2022 is much kinder to everyone than the last two years. I, for one will be spending the evening with family and killing many monks, knights, and ghouls (In Death Unchained on the Oculus is awesome). Oh yeah. We're also going to eat way too much.
