HI, We used to have a Win 7 Pro pc running as a file server in our small office - 4 or 5 client PC's attached, all running Windows variants. This was fine, but after 5 years I decided to replace the file server before problems started developing. This is now an i7 processor, 8GB ram and 2TB hard drive running Windows 10 Pro, but throughput across the network has plummeted. No changes have been made to the network infrastructure so I am thinking that a bottleneck has been created with Windows 10. I have created a batch file which …

Hi All, The problem I have is that the port on my laptop NIC is meant to have gigabit capability, but I am only connecting at 100.0Mbps and I don't know where the bottleneck is. My Cat 5 ethernet cable connects my laptop to the RJ45 wall socket. The cable then runs through to a patch panel, which is connected to a gigabit unmanaged switch, which is in turn connected to a gigabit router and then off to the internet. When my adapater reports it's connection speed, which component is it reporting it's connection to? I would guess this is …

Hi, I have been creating a round robin. This is similar idea to speed dating except everyone has to talk to everyone. Whilst I have been able to create this, there is a lot of repetition in my code and I wondering if any of you have recommendations for removing some of that, particularly around the push and pops. The code below I tested within the js.do website. I will add the output below the code, so you get an idea of what this looks like. Any help will be appreciated. <p style="line-height: 18px; font-size: 18px; font-family: times;"> <br> Round …

I really appreciate your time and favorable comments. Regards, Faisal

Hey you all I got a time calculation question. I'm attempting to do a lot of PHP and AJAX code appending to HTML. I want to know if my code below will accurately calculate the time of entire code being executed or solely just the PHP code. If it just calculates the PHP, what other code can I add to give me an accurate length of time it takes for the code to execute. <?php $before = microtime(true); /* A bunch of PHP Code */ ?> <!DOCTYPE html> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/jquery-ui.js"></script> <script> $(function () { /* A …

At my school, we get 100 gbit internet speeds. Where does the school get the internet from, the best internet speeds we have in the Bay Area are 100mbit(Comcast BuisnessClass). When I do a speedtest, the ISP shows Palo Alto Unified School District and during school hours speeds are 500mbit, and during lunch, I decided to go to the computer lab to try downloading a 1 gbyte file, and it finished in 16 seconds at about 60 mbyte/sec, with every other person watching youtube, or doing something that requires a lot of bandwith ... Which? magazine [has revealed](http://blogs.which.co.uk/technology/phones-3/apple-iphone-5s-fastest-phone-samsung-galaxy-s4-lg-g2/) the new Apple iPhone 5s to be the fastest smartphone of all in the latest round of processor benchmarking tests, despite it having less cores that rival handsets. Not only was the 5s almost twice as fast as the iPhone 5 in testing, but also around 50% faster than the Samsung Galaxy S4. In fact, the iPhone 5s is the fastest smartphone Which? has ever tested. According to the Geekbench-powered lab tests that Which? applied to a range of flagship smartphones, replicating real-world tasks and producing a weighted score measured against a Mac Mini with an …

Hi everyone. I would like to implement a counter using ajax that will act like this: The script will send a XMLHttpRequest every x seconds which will return a value from a mysql database. Using the current and previous value retrieved from the server, the script will increase the counter, in order to reach the new value in the x second interval between the server requests. The value will be decimal (two decimal digits are enough), it will always icrease (until it resets) and my main concern is to make it increase with variable speed, to give a more interesting …

Hi Guys, Is there a best practise when having an ADO connection to speed up the process? Currently the method I am using below works fine but it's a little slow in getting the data. Is there any hints, tips or tricks I can utilise to speed this up? //Opens the Line 50 Connection// adoConn.Open("SageLine50v19", "Manager", "", 0); //Creates new versions of the Connection string and Data Set// da = new OleDbDataAdapter(); ds4 = new DataSet(); if (File.Exists("C:\\twDB.xml")) { //Create a new Datatable called "accountsTable" and then adds that the the DataSet 4// DataTable accountsTable = new DataTable("accounts"); ds4.Tables.Add(accountsTable); //SQL …

I have this issorted code to sort elements of an array. It's very slow as it is right now due to a lot of memory access, number of branch instructions per iteration of the poorly written loops, and unorganized instruction/register usage causing dependencies between instructions. I'm not sure on how to go about improving my code to be faster and efficient. I need a nudge in the right direction as I'm new to assembly. .globl issorted .align 4, 0x90 issorted: movl $1, %eax .align 4, 0x90 LBB1_1: cmpq %rsi, %rax jge LBB1_4 movq (%rdi,%rax,8), %rcx leaq 1(%rax), %rdx cmpq %rcx, …

Hi All, not the usual, "how can you help me" thread, but a heads-up on a templating engine I've been using for a while called RainTPL. A few users have posted threads of late asking about templates. I thought I'd give this one a plug, especially as Federico (the author) has just published a speed test page on his site: http://www.raintpl.com/PHP-Template-Engines-Speed-Test/ If you've used templaters like Smarty, RainTPL should seem very simple to use - just "8 tags and 2 methods". If you're interested, I've documented a multilingual implementation at diafol.org/rain.php, which is itself built on RainTPL. Anybody have any …

This is a problem that i observe regarding the Indicated wifi speed on the 'status' dialog box (Windows 7 operating System). I have a **TP-Link wifi-n enabled router**. The box indicates a connection spped / maximum speed of 150 Mbps(small b). on my status dialog i do see a speed of 150.0 Mbps listed. However on certain other PC's (All Win7) I see speeds as low as 5 Mbps. Why does this happen? How will this Affect performance? how may this be rectified.

A way to measure internet speed through javascript is given here ... [Click Here](http://jsfiddle.net/yahavbr/tEFpC/2/) for it, it uses a big image to download and then divides the time taken by the size of the image ....! Is it possible to measure the speed using a video streaming website like Youtube ? i.e. if I enter the video link, after a specified time of bufferring, I get to know the approx internet speed ? Please help!

Hi! It's time to get another laptop but with all the changes and options available, I'm a little overwhelmed. I travel a good deal, so I need a unit that is built solid but does not resemble a brick or is overly heavy. I was considering an iPad but I do not think it would offer everything I would need and is too expensive for what it delivers. So Ideally, I need one that is great for business travel and entertainment purposes with great battery life, durable construction, great graphics/ audio and awesome processing speed. I currently have an Fujitsu …

Hey Everyone, I have run into a bit of a problem with regards to application startup... I have written a C++ application with QT libraries that uses active QT to communicate with our ERP system in our business, the requirements are that any application we use needs to communicate its variables into this application by means of an argument list that uses unique splitters, and the application then checks the command (seperate argument) and handles the variables and inserts into XML to communicate them to the ERP my issue is this, with larger argument lists (larger applications and more intricate …

Hello, I've built a timekeeping aplication from a fingerprint machine with automatic import to db and I'm getting some reports. One report is that I'm getting the employees time if they are late from work. But my table is small with 20.000 entries, but with the following query, the results are generating in 9.7 seconds, and its really slow. I have to use INNER JOIN and some subselects for getting the minimal hour and other stuff. Could I optimize this query more ? `SELECT p.data,u.name, SEC_TO_TIME(AVG(TIME_TO_SEC(p.ora))) as timp, u.user, p.tip, u.program_de_la FROM utilitar.pontaj as p INNER JOIN utilitar.pontaj_usr as u …

I am working on a game making (or really just general program making, but my question applies to games) DLL for opengl. It is almost done but the collision detection is a little bit slow since it has to calculate bounding boxes for each object repeatedly. I was thinking of storing six extra variables for each object (left, right, top, bottom, near, far) to remove the need for those calculations. The thing is that that will add (c++ code, compiler dependant) [ICODE]6*sizeof(float)[/ICODE] bytes to each object. My question is, on average how many objects do most games have in them (an object consisting of a …

Hi all. I'm having trouble with this simple Java program. When I compile it, numerous errors would happen. I put in let's say 50 miles for the speed of the car and 2 hours for the traveling hours. I run it and it you see this: Hours Distance Traveled --------------------------------- 2 100 2 100 It doesn't display the 1 hour which it's supposed to be 50 miles traveled. Also, I try to test the while loops with negative or 0 inputs, and I get a repeat of the output which looks like this: Enter the speed of the vehicle in …
