As you say, consumers aren't really in dire need of a terabyte of storage right now, and high end people and people with servers are going to want more than the slow IDE connection when things like SATA and SCSI are available. Re: Terabyte drives available soon Hardware and Software Hardware by jwenting 1TB may sound like a lot now, but I still remember buying my first PC in 1992 and people declaring me crazy for opting to get one with a 40MB drive. "You'll never need that much space" was the most common criticism. 10GB these days is nothing. Although I agree that most consumers are not in dire need of this amount of storage, plenty soon will be as the 'PC as media centre' concept continues to get a grip. Streaming video, digital photography, MP3 jukeboxes all require hefty storage requirements and I think that … Re: Terabyte drives available soon Hardware and Software Hardware by mindmergepk i was wondering how quickly games are changing, 8 years ago people think they may not need such storage but now manufacturers like Seagate, Western Digital, Samsung has introduce 10TB drive. Or you should've done that. You should try attaching 1 at the time, while the system is on. the sata drives are plug and play, they are detected automatically and instantly. Perfectly safe. If that doesn't work either, try a bios update. Re: Bios cannot detect new WD terabyte drive Hardware and Software Hardware by Magicianer Thanks for the reply. I attached them to both types. I tried one at a time (my one pc only has one sata power cord). I might try a bios update but I updated near the start of this year already. Re: Bios cannot detect new WD terabyte drive Hardware and Software Hardware by kaninelupus The difficulty you are dealing with is that many of the WD HDD's are not pre-formatted...apparently to make them Mac compatible. Second, i used a partition manager on vista: Paragon. It worked well, no problems there. The vista manager can be accessed by right click on the computer and select manage. If the drives appear at the disk management section, any… Re: Bios cannot detect new WD terabyte drive Hardware and Software Hardware by Magicianer Someone must have misunderstood something in my post. Re: Bios cannot detect new WD terabyte drive Hardware and Software Hardware by seoulman2 Sorry for the side track. Have you checked the jumper setting on the TB drives? Simple, I know. But sometimes forgotten. If that's not the problem, maybe try them hooked up to a usb connection to see if they work that way.
