My computer has got slower - and hangs

I ran my AVG anti virus software and it detected a shed load of viruses and trojans etc in the HKLM\software\microsoft\internet explorer\activex compatability folders. eg {A43385FO-7113-496D-96D7-B9B550E3FCCA}.

By the way ther are hundreds of these types of folders under the activex folder

The AVG did not remove these and I eventually went into the registry and deleted them manually. Reran AVG and they were gone - only to turn up again when I rebooted.

I have tried running registry mech and reg cure

Does anyone have any ideas
