For the last few days I've been working on my mom's friend's computer which was infected with TONS of spyware, viruses, etc... I cleaned out as much as I could with AVG Antivirus, Adaware 2007, and Spybot. I had figured there were probably some things that I had missed because for some reason the drivers folder always comes up on startup for no reason at all. I found this forum and saw the thread about running AVG AntiSpyware before posting, so I did that about an hour ago. I was going to post the log, but for some reason it wouldn't let me save it. I set everything to exactly how the thread told me, but when it was finished the button to save the log file was grayed out and I couldn't click on it. If it helps at all, this is what AVG Antispyware found:

Adware.Generic
Dialer.GBDialer.j
Trojan.Pakes.cjv
Backdoor.Agent.frr
Backdoor.Agent.fbq

Now I just want to know if there's anything else I should get rid of. Here's the Hijack This log:

Hi and welcome to the Daniweb forums :).

==========

Download
SDFix
and save it to your desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the
following :

  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the
    Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
  • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract
    All
    ,
  • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to
    start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the script.
  • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the
    registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool
    will be running and removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and
    display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load
    your desktop icons.
  • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the
    contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with
    a new HijackThis log

Can you please rename hijackthis.exe to analysethis before your next post.

==

Can you please do the following.

===============

Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-us6.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://srch-us6.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://srch-us6.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://srch-us6.hpwis.com/
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://srch-us6.hpwis.com/
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://srch-us6.hpwis.com/

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

O23 - Service: Task Scheduler (Schedule) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\
O23 - Service: System Restore Service srserviceSchedule (srserviceSchedule) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\6to4svcl.exe (file missing)

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

Search for...

ALCXMNTR.EXE

...using "Start | Search...".

-

Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:

  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.

Select the first option to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

-

Reboot.

===============

After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.

Looks like the drivers folder has stopped coming up on startup now. I was able to delete ALCXMNTR.exe without having to go into safe mode. I also renamed Hijack This like you said. Here's the new log file:

Well, I have to give the tower back today so I'm not going to be able to work on it anymore. I think the worst of it is gone now and it's running a lot better. Thank you for helping me out!!! :)

No worries :). Sorry for the late reply. I only just got the notification of your reply. Log looks clean anyway :).
