I have suddenly had all kinds of problems with my computer, I was infested with spyware, and I even did a complete system restore, and it only took a few days for my whole system to be taken over again. I have DSL. Now, whenever I start my computer, I get the message "Explorer has caused an error in MIYUV.DLL. Explorer will now close.", and if I click "close", then my system just stops working. In fact, right now, the message is still up because I can't close it. please help! Here is my HJT:

Short expert summary and a safe, practical cleanup plan (for ).

The Explorer crash mentioning MIYUV.DLL almost always means a third‑party DLL or shell extension is being loaded into Explorer and crashing it. First priority: stop reinfection and preserve evidence — unplug the DSL/modem, do not browse or log in to accounts from that machine, and avoid running "cleaners" blindly.

Follow this ordered checklist (do each step fully before moving on):

  1. Boot into Safe Mode (no network if possible) so the offending code is less likely to start. See a concise Safe Mode guide: Safe Mode: What It Is and How to Use It. (lifewire.com)

  2. Use HijackThis only as a diagnostic tool: save a fresh log and do NOT use the Fix buttons unless you know exactly what an entry does or you have expert guidance. The official HijackThis page explains how to use it safely. HijackThis information. (hijackthis.com)

  3. Update definitions then run at least two reputable scanners (different engines catch different things). Good options are Malwarebytes and Spybot — update them first, run full scans, remove/quarantine found items, reboot, re-scan. Malwarebytes · Spybot S&D. (malwarebytes.com)

  4. System Restore can reintroduce infections because restore points may contain infected files — disable or clear restore points while cleaning, then re-enable once the system is clean. See the System Restore overview. System Restore. (en.wikipedia.org)

After cleaning: reconnect, run Windows Update, enable/verify a firewall, change passwords from a known‑clean machine, and back up important data. If Explorer still crashes or the machine remains unstable after the above, back up personal files and consider a clean OS reinstall — persistent rootkits or damaged system files often require that.

's advice to patch the OS and use a firewall is spot on; correctly flagged browser‑hijack symptoms. If you post a new HijackThis log (saved, not attempted fixes) the community can review it step‑by‑step.

...it only took a few days for my whole system to be taken over again...

There are some steps you should take to help prevent this from reoccuring. First of all you should go to Windows Update and get all the Critical Updates for you system.

You should also get SpywareBlaster:
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

When you have DSL or Cable internet, you need, at a minimum, a software firewall. A hardware firewall would be even better, and both would be best.

Concerning your HJT, you should have all browser windows closed before scanning with it.
