windows XP refuses to Boot - suspected virus

hi

when i turn on my computer just when the desktop icons have all loaded on screen they immediately disappear, as does the start menu and task bar leaving just the wallpaper visible. This process is repeated another two or three times but never boots properly so i have no access to my program files other than through my Task Manager. I eventually got Internet Explorer to work through task manager and hitting the .exe on an older version (7)despite the diagnostic tool telling me that there was no internet connection. I'm not altogether sure how I managed it but well, here i am.

I managed to get AVG to scan and it found three threats, all Trojan generics and it deleted them....

So, i find myself in a rather strange position of all my programs working albeit through task manager but no tangible operating system to speak of?

I'm running XP and did the following hijack scan.

Good call on reinstalling IE7 — that explains why the shell/desktop came back. have resolved the start up problem, something to do with the Internet Explorer Shell file? I downloaded IE7 again and it sorted the problem. However..............
