Hi there,
Im not to sure whats going on with my PC, but I seem to have some form of spyware/adware. Im running Trend Micro Internet Sec 2004, I have done scans with Spybot, Adaware and Microsoft Antispyware, and basically they all pick up different things and I quarantine them, but each time I log on I have IE pop up with Hotoffers in the web address. Adaware has picked this specific spyware up a few times, and once again I delete it, but it seems to be coming back somehow.
Please let me know what I can do to rid my PC of these lil critters.
I have been watching this forum with interest and I have posted my log file of hijack this below.

Are you sure that you posted the full contents of the HJT log?

On an XP system there should be more entries after the " O15 - Trusted Zone:" lines; I'd expect at least some entries beginning with "016" and "023".

Hi,
I thought I had but here it is again, apologies. Im new to all of this. :o

For every User listed under C:\Documents and Settings, delete the entire contents of these folders (not the folders themselves):

Local Settings\Temp
Cookies
History
Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Delete the entire contents of your C:\Windows\Temp folder.

Delete the entire contents of your C:\Temp folder (if you have one).

Do a search for *.tmp and delete all entries found.

Empty your Recycle Bin.

Follow the recommendations in this thread to remove HotOffers:
http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread19959.html

Get HSFix from here:
http://www.atribune.org/downloads/HSFix.zip

After it is downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop called "HSFix" and extract all the files into the newly created folder.

Reboot into Safe Mode

Locate the HSFix folder on your desktop, open it, and double-click "hsfix.bat"

A log will be produced which you can close out of.

Right-click on your desktop, select New, Folder; give the New Folder a name (like HJT or HijackThis), and then drag the hijackthis.exe icon on your desktop into this new folder.

Close all browser windows, scan with HJT, and have it fix the following entries:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.hotoffers.info/192/
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.slotchbar.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.horse-active.net (HKLM)
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.slotchbar.com (HKLM)

If this IP address is not related to your ISP, have HJT fix it as well:
O15 - Trusted IP range: 64.62.171.156

Be sure all windows are closed other that hijackthis before hitting the fix button.

Go to the following folders and delete the highlighted file:

C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ffisearch.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Rsb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\??rss.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Start Menu\Programs (or C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Start up)\netdb.exe

Empty your Recycle Bin, reboot normally, close all browser windows, scan with HJT, and post a new log, along with the HSFix log, which is located at C:/hslog.txt

Hi,
Have done as you requested. Here is both logs. Thanx for your help, hopefully this worked.

Im still recieving a pop up every now and again. It seems a little better. My computer is running dreadfully slow.
It seems I posted the same log twice, I just checked then and my reply wasnt on the site. so I apologise for posting it twice.
I will fix those entries and see how I go after that.
Cheers,

Your latest log does look much better, but there are still a couple of things that need to go:

1. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Security iGuard] C:\Program Files\Security iGuard\Security iGuard.exe

You need to uninstall Security iGuard; it has a dubious reputation at best. Scrolll down to the Security iGuard entry under the "Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products" category at the following page for more information:

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

If Security iGuard is listed in your Add/Remove Programs control panel, uninstall from there.

2. Have HJT fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Security iGuard] C:\Program Files\Security iGuard\Security iGuard.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Service Host] C:\WINDOWS\system32\Services\{FEC9BE58-0FA5-4B00-BE5E-EC7D052E91B6}\SVCHOST.EXE
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Run - C:\WINDOWS\system32\k8440ihqe84e0.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: StillImage - C:\WINDOWS\system32\f22mlcf11f2.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Uninstall - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pKutoenr.dll (file missing)

3. Delete the following folder entirely:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Services\{FEC9BE58-0FA5-4B00-BE5E-EC7D052E91B6}

4. Empty your REcycle Bin and reboot.

Post a new log after doing the above.

Have done as requested, Thank you soooo much for all of your help, it all seems to be running without a hitch at the moment. Its good that there are people out there like yourself donating their time/effort into helping poor saps like myself!
I hope the Easter Bunny was extra specially nice to you.
Heres my log.

I hope the Easter Bunny was extra specially nice to you.

Lol.
Unfortunately, the Easter Bunny was extra specially mean to me this Sunday- he had me fixing a client's "blowed up" computer for half the day.
Damn lop-eared, cotton-tailed #$^%&#$@!

Seriously though- your log is squeaky clean now; glad we could help you get things cleaned up. :)

Super,
Thanks for all of your help!
Stay gold.
