Not a clue

Every night at 8:30-8:40 my computer closes the internet and I can't get back in until the next day....don't know what time exactly I'm allowed back in because I work during the day and am usually busy on weekends.

I've run virus scans and anti-spyware and nothing has been found. I have Privacy Manager and Personal Firewall enabled. No settings have been changed in either of those. I know using Personal Firewall that you can tell the computer the times to allow internet surfing. That has not been changed.

Any ideas?

Perhaps you have a virus the scanners are overlooking, or your internet is hijacked.

Download HJT - http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip - And post the log. We will take a look at it.

Just run, and click "Do system scanand save log" Then post the text that pops up in notepad.

Your log is clean, very clean :). Im not sure why that happens with your internet, wouldn't hurt to try Winsockfix - http://www.webattack.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

I have done run the Winsock fix and still nothing. I have run AdAware, Spybot, VirusScan, Defender and fixed all the errors associated with each one of those. I have uninstalled McAfee and still can't get it to work. I'm at a total loss now. I'm about to just reformat the stupid thing and call it a day, unless anyone else has suggestions.

Open the Event Viewer utility in your Administrative Tools control panel and look through the System and Application logs for networking-related messages/warnings/errors which occur at or around the time of the connection loss. If you find messages which might shed some light on the problem, do the following:

Double-clicking on an entry will open a properties window with more detailed information on the error. In the Properties window of a given entry, click on the button with the graphic of two pieces of paper on it; the button is at the right of the window just below the up arrow/down arrow buttons. You won't see anything happen when you click the button, but it will copy all of the details to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste the details into your next post here.

You might also want to check your router. Most routers can be set to kill the internet and all at certain times.

Well, my internet is fixed. I basically uninstalled McAfee Internet Suite and reinstalled it and it reset itself. I don't know what happened or why but I want to thank all of you for your help here. I will DEFINITELY share this site with others. Not only are you knowledgable but you're friendly as well...not to mention, you don't charge $35.00 per hour. :D
