I followed crunchy's recommendations and downloaded and installed adaware and spybot s&d. They fixed the bridge.dll error and lots of other stuff! :cheesy:
I found 164 items to remove with adaware and 48 items with spybot. Nice :p

I just thought I post the log I got with HijackThis after my scans, and its ALOT schorter :p

Do you guys see anything bad here?

Nice cleanup so far — running Ad-Aware and Spybot and then getting a much shorter HijackThis log is exactly the right sequence. freed the system of a lot of junk, and was right to ask for a follow-up scan to be sure nothing persisted. A few targeted follow-ups will help make the removal durable and reduce the chance of hidden remnants.

A short checklist to finish the job:

  1. Reboot into Safe Mode (press F8 during boot) and rerun HijackThis. Look for leftover BHOs, odd startup entries and scheduled tasks; only fix entries that are clearly malicious or known to be third-party.
  2. Run a full antivirus scan with updated signatures, and follow with a second-opinion on-demand scanner to catch anything the main AV missed.
  3. Inspect the hosts file, Internet Explorer settings (home/search), and Temporary Internet Files for signs of reinfection—browser redirection often survives partial cleanups.
  4. Run a rootkit/low-level scanner to detect hidden loaders or drivers that normal scanners miss.
  5. If account credentials were used while the machine was infected, change important passwords from a known-clean computer.
  6. Back up essential data, then consider a clean OS reinstall if any critical persistence (drivers/services/scheduled tasks) remains.

About bridge.dll and BHOs: bridge-type DLLs often function as browser helper objects or loaders for trojans. If the DLL was removed, confirm no other components remain by searching for similarly named files, suspicious services, or unknown drivers. When in doubt, err on the side of caution: autoruns and BHOs can be stealthy, and a full reinstall is the only way to guarantee system integrity.

Long-term: keep the OS and browser patched, maintain realtime AV, and avoid running unknown executables. The immediate scans were a good result — these follow-ups make the cleanup solid.

BTW, what IS really bridge.dll??

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchURL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchURL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL =

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page_bak = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = Koblinger

bridge is added by a trojan. Plz post another log after a reboot, I want to see if those about:blank entries return.

OK, did that, and heres the log:

You really should upgrade to IE6 with SP1 too, for security.

OK, thanks for all your help! I will recommend this site to my friends and everyone I know if they ever have any security problems.
