Hello people. I have recently been experiencing probs with my IE....cant click on links and when i click my start button ' search 'never works. I have attatched a hijackthis log so the enlightened ones can help me.......

Unzip HJT into it's own permanent folder before doing anything in order for it to create backups. (Not a temporary folder or the desktop & not directly on your hard drive). Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

Link is the beginning to understanding the log entries themselves. There are also start up lists, CLSID lists, BHO lists, Toolbar lists, spywareblaster can be used to cross reference active X controls, CWS domain list. All of these & more are used to cross reference the HJT logs.

Hi. First of all you need to update hijackthis to version 1.98.2. Run hijackthis & go to *Config\Misc Tools\Check for update on-line*. If the site is down, go here. Remove the old version by deleting the file manually. Unzip the new version into the hijackthis folder.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4A85415E-9016-76C5-D301-63550BA32A6E} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\furzvdds.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Mstask32driver] svchost.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Services] C:\WINDOWS\services.exe

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\WINDOWS\services.exe-file (Not the valid file in system32 folder)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Mstask32driver-file

C:\DOCUME~1\Nick\LOCALS~1\Temp-folder contents

In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log please.

In order to view these files you will have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Reboot normally & then go to Microsoft & get service packs for both XP & IE6.

Post a new HJT log please.

nice one chrunchie for all the help! much appreciated....how do you determine whether or not items in your hijackthis log are to be deleted?
Should I be looking for specific codes or .exe's or .dll's etc..?

Hi Chrunchie......its been a long time and a new PC later i have a prob that is baffling me. I have a pop up that say Isass.exe. so i click on RUN.... it then logs me into messenger and disables my task manager. Can you help?
