Hi Ozzman,

This is typical of a Wareout infection. Please do the following:

FIRST: DELETE your current copy of HijackThis.

THEN: Download a fresh HijackThis from http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Save the setup file on your desktop.
Then, DoubleClick on it and by default it should install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis
Continue through the setup and allow it to create a desktop icon for you.
Follow all the prompts, click Finish and just leave it for now.

NEXT: You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch (If Hijackthis does not launch then please start it yourself).

Please Scan with HJT, and check the boxes for the following items:

-- Click on ATF-Cleaner to run it
-- Where it says Select Files To Delete, Check the Select All Option
-- Click Empty Selected > OK > EXIT

This will flush TEMP files, etc... as well as clean the Java Cache.

LASTLY:
Please locate c:\fixwareout\report.txt and
post it here along with Fresh HijackThis Scanlog and we'll go from there.

As I'm writing this ive noticed my new homepage is MSN and i cannot change it in internet options it simply resets itself. But I wasn't redirected to another site when i typed in daniweb in the search bar. What was that question u were asking about something school related? Sorry I didnt quite get that. OK - Let's try a few more things. Some is just minor cleanup with HJT and the other stuff is quite important. Let me know if you have trouble with any of it....

-- R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 192.168.1.46:6 What I wanted to know is whether this is the correct setting . . . Are you using a proxy for school or the like? If not, you can fix this with HJT along with the others below.

-- The MSN thing sometimes accompanies this infection. For the life of me, I can't remember how to fix it. So we'll try a few different things.

Be sure All Browser Windows are Closed and then Click Fix Checked.
Those are not baddies . . . Just clutter that we can get out of the way.

Navigate to and DELETE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CSMGW.EXE & C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMNVW.EXE if they remain.

3-
Click Start > Run > type CMD > Enter
Type orCopy&Paste: ipconfig /flushdns
Pesss Enter
(Be sure to leave the space between the g and the / )

4-
Please download HOSTER and Extract it to your Desktop.
- Click the Restore Original Hosts Button and then click OK and exit HOSTER.

NOW:
-- Try to reset your Web Settings. Is it possible that AVG Anti-spy's Guard is blocking the change?

-- I Still do not see any resident Anti-virus app in your HJT Log. See my "Protect Yourself" linky below my signature for some good (and Free) options! Install ONE!

-- Please Update your Java here ---> http://www.java.com/en
-Then, look in Add/Remove Programs and Remove ALL traces of any older Java versions! If you do not uninstall ALL older versions, you may remain at risk for a number of baddies.

-- Download ATF-Cleaner.exe as requested in my previous post.

-- Click on ATF-Cleaner to run it
-- Where it says Select Files To Delete, Check the Select All Option
-- Click Empty Selected > OK > EXIT

This will flush TEMP files, etc... as well as clean the Java Cache.

We may still need to run a different scan or two.
Let me know how the above went and we'll go from there...

Hey thanks for all your help I still cant shake msn from taking over my home page. This is the default url under internet options:

It won't allow you the switch that from the default? What happens if you go into Internet Options right now and try to select "use current" (this page) as your homepage?
