I have the about blank and I delete the temp\sp.html and the about blank references within the hijackThis program. I also deleted the BHO CKNP.dll - have run spybot, adware and CWshredder. I also notice a desktop.ini file that seems to show up. I have delted that and after restart - it all comes back. I tried to download APM - as suggested in one of the threads - but when I tried to execute it - it caused an improper shutdown error. I have Win 98 here is the log - if someone can help - I would appreciate it very much.

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following:

c:\windows\TEMP< folder contents
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CKNP.DLL< file

In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log plz.

Crunchie,
Thank you for your reply. I did what you suggested - one exception - on the CKNP.dll file - when I tried to delete - access was denied. I did manage to delete via killbox. This is the result of the HJT log. Must be somehting else triggering the virus. everything is back including the CKNP.Dll. This one is nasty. What can you suggest?

Crunchie,
Using HJT - the only item that comes close after pressing config is a box for including running processes in log. So I unmarked all the boxes and included this one. I have Win98 so this could be why the difference. This posted log - I had already cleaned up everything and did not yet restart - however if I restart - everything is back like the previous log. If what I did is not correct - please advise.
