I'm currently studying Network+, and one thing I have a slightly hard time grasping is Collision and Broadcast domains. I understand that Layer 2 devices break up collision domains, and Layer 3 devices break up broadcast domains. I also understand that each port on a layer 2 switch will be its own separate collision domain. But what I just can't understand is the actual ramifications of such a setup...

Let me put it this way... If I were to make a network of all switches and routers (meaning, no hubs or repeaters), could there ever be a possibility of a collision at some point? It would seem to me that broadcasts within a broadcast domain could still collide with eachother, even though you have everything segmented into its own collision domain. And couldn't the broadcasts also collide with some other type of communication as well?
