You can rank anythinh you want, inbound links are but a handful of considerations the search engine uses to gather information as to the value of the content of the web page you wish to rank. Many other ranking fther factors are equally if not, more imporatnt than incoming links.

I agree about not wasting time trying to manipulate PageRank. It was a useless idea from the get go but it still somehow seems to make many global marketing "entrepreneurs" and all the corporate shareholders very happy. Silly idea from the very start, everyone let's pump up a stupid green …
