was buying the adapter the only way you could get the keyboard to work?

Mine works part of the time, but not always. I also have an HP Pavillion

Thanks!

Well, now I've noticed a few other weird things happening. My pc's still sluggish, but now I've noticed that when I click on "Start", then select "All Programs", nothing happens! I used to be able to see a list of all my programs!

Also, if I select "Start", then "run", I get a message that says "Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead"

Not sure if this is related or not, but I can't play any of my previously purchased music files via MusicMatch or my Windows Media Player. The licenses seem to have disappeared.

I've got Norton Antivirus running 24/7. Plus, so many other spyware programs I can't remember.

What's going on with my pc?????

All help is GREATLY appreciated!

Can you please do the following.

===============

Run HiJackThis, click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

To help protect your system from hostile ActiveX content, or special 'downloadable' files:

Download, install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster. If you've installed it for the first time:

1) Check for any available updates; if present, they'll be automatically downloaded and installed.
2) Next, "Enable all protection".
3) Exit the program.

I don't understand why I'm having problems again. I had issues a couple of months ago, but thought they were resolved. Now my PC is extremely sluggish! I can't always access the internet or my email because my pc times out. I've got Norton AV on at all times...what's going on???

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Your latest log is clean. :)

What exact issues are you still experiencing?

Well, I had popups when I logged onto the internet, but I reset my Internet Settings to block pop ups and things seem ok with that.

BUT, after doing the fix to Windows XP yesterday, my computer seems to think I no longer have a CD drive. It used to be drive D. Now, I have an "F" drive that is labeled "removable disk". I noticed this today when I tried to burn a cd.

Everything was fine yesterday and I used my Windows XP disk to restore some files (as per the link to the website you sent me.).

Also, I had a subscription to MusicMatch, and it appears that I still have the program, but it won't load. It just flashes for a split-second and then disappears.

Any idea what happened?

Thanks for helping with this.

Crunchie:

I appreciate your helping me with this. :)

rkerner 0 Unverified User

Did as you suggested. I got an error message:

One of the system's registry files had to be recovered....everything ok.

I clicked "OK", then it froze at the Windows icon again :(

rkerner 0 Unverified User

Crunchie...HELP!!!

I did everything you instructed me to do. The only file I was able to delete from the C: was C:/windows/mytzenc.exe

The rest were not present.

When I tried to reboot, my pc will no longer work. I can't get into Windows. I tried it via Safe Mode, but it always freezes when it shows the "Windows" icon. I don't get past that.

What now???

I'm writing to you from my son's computer, but I need to access files that are on mine.

Your help is GREATLY appreciated.
