Use anyone of the link popularity checker tools available online.
Really the best is google but there are other very good options to get traffic as social networks, even for certain keywords yahoo and bing continue being a good option.

Maybe the sites have the nofollow attribute for backlinks or maybe the articles from the directories have not been indexed yet.
