I think that the thread starter knows perfectly well, what profile linking is. His proberbly just working on his profile links :D
I think that it is important to mention, that it would be a good idea to spread your backlinks out on different type of sites like blogs, forums, bookmarking sites, article sites, and web sites. Doing this, will make you less vulnerable, when Google update its search algorithms.
