Using an external USB hard drive is the best bet if you just want to have files stored locally. But if you want to access from anywhere you may want to look at an online storage service like box.net or something similar.

Ya I'm afraid that the HD is damaged. I did the same thing about 2 months ago and brought it in to Best Buy, the tech said it was bad as I suspected but it was a Best Buy employee perhaps taking the easy answer. But in all respect HD …
