After months of waiting, I am ready to invest in a gaming laptop with all the features included. Looking for something with great graphics and performance, possibly 16GB Ram. My budget is under $2000 and brand is not a priority.

I could easily buy a liquid cooler and call it a day, but unfortunately this is going into a 4U rack server chassis. it has a double 120mm fan but its covered by drive bays. the only other fan is 80mm, and i dont know any liquid coolers with a radiator that small. I am thinking air cooler. It is a i7-7800X so im concerned about temps. Ideas for cooling?

I just got an i7 8700k from hardware swap and the 3rd core is running way hotter than the rest. Its sitting at 68 degress celsius, while the rest are in the 30s. I've reapplied the thermal paste and it didn't change.

I'm wanting to build a new computer but I'm having trouble, it's been a long time since I've built one and my head is starting to spin just looking at the options for motherboards. So you know what I'm working with this is my empty tower -> NZXT Source 210 Elite White Steel with painted interior ATX Mid Tower, 1 x USB 3.0 / 1 x USB 2.0 / Audio Front Ports, 3 External 5.25" Drive Bays, 8 Internal 3.5" Drive Bays. I'm getting really confused browsing newegg motherboard opitons: Don't know what socket type I need or want. Don't …

I worked this issue for over 10 hours yesterday and got nowhere. Maybe the braintrust here has some ideas. I have an Asus essentio desktop, with Win 7 Ultimate SP1 installed. Yesterday AM I discovered that it was completely hung,so I turned it off and turned it on. First, I got a black screen, so I turned off and turned on again. This time it booted, but hung on the startup screen. Off, and on, and it went to the F8 screen. Start Windows normally, and it hung on the pasword screen. Off and on, F8 screen, safe mode selected, …

So I basically tried to make a gaming pc, first one. And I encountered a big problem. I thought I had everything set up and connected (with the disappointment that my Gigabyte Z370 Ultra Gaming didn’t support RGB) but when I went to turn it on for a final test, the motherboard flickered a little of the led it has and just did nothing at all. I pressed the power button then the fans came on and a red light came on on the motherboard. But it continuously turned off and on by itself within the span of like 10 …

I'm trying to install an Iomega Zip 100 MB Drive on an Asus Z97 64bit motherboard running Windows 10 with a PCI express ide connector to substitute for the lack of connector that the 64bit motherboards now are usually leaving the legacy ide connector disk drives out that could be found to connect to the 32 bit motherboards. it doesn't show up in the device manager or in disk management but the light comes on the front of the drive and the zip drive can be ejected under the power of the computer build. Is there a driver I haven't …

Hello, Am currently facing a problem with my home PC, whereby upon switching on, all the lights switch on normally (HDD, DVD-drives, PSU), then just seconds later, it switches off by itself, and again some seconds later, starts to switch on by itself, but again goes off (in a loop). No beep sound whatsoever. Any one can help troubleshoot this issue? Thanks.

Used two different tvs, one has hdmi and rgb in, and the other has pc in (vga?) and hdmi, use two different cables and nothing. I have not used the pc in with audio yet (a double sided vga cable with audio for monitor), was wondering if I even need that type of cable. I used hdmi to hdmi and hdmi to dvi for the two cables. I just got the motherboard replaced (for not working in the first place) and I haven't installed anything yet, because need the obvious to do so. Read it could be motherboard again; hope …

So I was installing a new SSD in my PC. After doing so, the PC made continuous beeping sound. Then I researched about the problem and came to know that continuous beep is due to CPU. Then I removed the CPU fan, cleaned up the thermal paste, then put the fan back.(NOTE- No thermal paste was on the CPU, I just thought of putting it later i.e after checking if my SSD is working properly). But this time, the PC did not make any noise, there was only flickering of lights and when I connect a USB light, even that flickered. …

After recently reciving a used Gateway GT5622 from my grandfather, opened it to see what ram and GPU it was running. About 3 weeks after this, i decided to boot it up and possibly use it for bitcoin mining. I attached the cables for the power supply, keyboard, mouse, monitor, and ethernet. When I attempted to power it on, the power light flashed randomly, one of the fans was in sync with the light, going of at the same time the light did. I then got 3 beeps, and about 2 minutes later, it completely stopped and shut itself down. …

So as the title says this is mainly if I was going to build one. To start off, my main concern about building one is compatibility. I'm not sure on if I buy a motherboard that I can buy whatever CPU, Graphics Card, etc... I'm not sure if there is like a guide I need to go off and even then does it all come down to if it's compatible with the motherboard? I …

Hi everybody, A friend has given me, almost 2 years back, a splitted parts for a couple of PCs. Almost 2~3 monitors, 3 PC cases, and some other PC-related components which I'm not aware of. 2 days back, I decided to check them, assemble, to bring them back to life by making them function first, then to install the necessary recent software, Windows 10, and try MS Edge. Anyways, checked and skimmed through a lot of online guides, they weren't helpful - at all - in my case. I have parts that I don't know their name, functions, not sure …

I have a strange problem where my computer seems to randomly shuts down. It only happens when i am streaming videos. The screen shuts down like the computer is going to sleep but the only way to get it to turn back on is by holding the power button til it shuts off completely. Then restart. When it happens power stays on the tower but thats it. I have checked all power settings and error logs and can't find anything. Any help is appreciated Thanks

Hi, The system came with 2x 512MB RAM - total of 1GB. I was sent a 2GB memory upgrade, so I had to remove one of the modules, and was supposed to get 2.5 GB in total. But it seems like the machine will only take max 1GB per slot, and max 2GB in total, despite that my system says it has 2.5GB. Dell confirms that the max capacity of RAM that can be used in my Vista Home Premium laptop is 2GB, and max 1GB per module. So, I am only using 1,5GB. True? Is there any way (like …
