Are you asking if SQL Server 2005 can be installed on a laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate?!?
What Edition? Express? Standard? Enterprise? Workgroup?
SQL Server Express (2005 or 2008) most certainly. SQL 2005 Standard/Enterprise/etc probably. The big question would be what you plan on doing, learn about SQL Server, or allow 1000 people to use a application with the server as a backend from a laptop?
You can download and install a trial copy of most editions and see how it goes once installed on your laptop.
