There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing a database. One does not simply choose without some details about how it's going to be used.

good money in being an Oracle DBA... Or better yet and Oracle consultant :)

Depends on your skill level and experience, though. Oracle is mostly used by large enterprise users, which means large companies. You're not likely to get a good job with one of them without an impressive resume, or an even more impressive demonstration of skill.
MySQL is more of a low-to-middle sized platform, used more by small companies. Those you'd probably have a better chance of getting a job with, even without the impressive resume and/or demonstration.
