Dear All,

Since one cannot write the ping command in java because real ping requires ICMP
support, and performs a very basic test that there is an IP protocol stake "awake" at the
requested address and this is not supported by java. this code is not a "ping" in the classic sense, it's a test to see whether or not the "daytime" service is running at the requested host, which for many hosts will not be true.

IM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE CODE , I CANNOT PING SUCCESSFUL.

IF I CALL PING MY IP ADDRESS, I GET :
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information

IF I CALL IT ON ANY OTHER (VALIDATE ) IP : I GET : TIMED OUT

CAN ANY BODY TELL ME WHY ? PLEASE?

Is there a firewall blocking connections from your program? Or perhaps the port is closed

no , the firewall is turned off and i used different port numbers like 80 and 5001...but still got the same results !!

any ideas :( !?
