i'm trying to connect two computers over the internet. kinda a messeging service between my desktop at one house, and my laptop at my other. i want the desktop to connect to my laptop and then just send it a message. but i don't know how to get the laptops ip to the desktop. and i not particularly fond setting a static ip. thanks in advance!

However, you may be able to accomplish what you want if you want to use email, specifically POP3.
