hello everybody,
i ve got a question about my first java program. im trying to write a planner to which you can add tasks or appointments. i created dialog boxes for the user input and they acutally do work. but i want to avoid errors by telling my programm what to to if the user input is wrong. and i have no idea of how to do it. for the first kind of entries i want a description and a date , for the second one only a description and who has to do it. can u help me to write some kind of method, validating the input?

If you want to use a Date, a JSpinner would be a very good idea. Search it on google - there are plenty of examples. You weren't very specific about what the description is allowed to contain, but you can use a JFormattedTextField for a lot of things.
