hey guys i want to know is it possible to take a 3ds max 3d model and show it in a java file??
if so could i have some pointers in the right direction??

Jump to PostIt's just another file, of course you can load it.
And if you have the right libraries you should be able to visualise the models as well.
I guess such libraries would exist (try some search engines :) ), if not you'll have to write them (which would I guess …
