Does anyone know how to do file input and output with spreadsheets? Specifically I'm going to be using the open office spreadsheet.

The above link should help. To make google searching easier, the spreadsheets you are talking about are a part of ODF, or Open Document Format. Putting ODF in your search ought to help ;)
