designing a good user interface

I am writing a project planner/tracker program and it's my first attempt to write a program on my own. It's almost done but my forms aren't really cool. I'm not any experienced so I can't be mega creative. Do you know any sites/tutorials that might help me develop my design, colors icons and stuff. Thanks in advance.
