Hi. I just installed Code Blocks. I want to just get started with programming. It seems that I have to configure Code Blocks therefore, setting up a compiler. How should this be done?

Which leads me to ask: Why use Code Blocks if it doesn't install and work right out of the blocks?
Could you use something else?
Can you share a link to where you get Code Blocks so I can check out if there is a tutorial for first timers?
