I can only share a similar experience. My first ever project invloved an MS Access database application. I had no experience with that at all, so I got the Using Access97 book from Microsoft Press and started at page 1.
For C# I can recommend professional C# 2005 published by Wrox it's a very thorough reference for .NET Framework 2.0
Is your project a Windows forms Desktop application or a ASP.NET web application? is it for .NET Framework 1.1 or 2.0?
Your other option is to find a freelancer who could take the project on for you.
