Greetings, I am practicing developing software that can communicate with hardware via an RS232 connection. I am using new PC hardware and I don't have any serial ports, nor do I have any actual devices with me that use serial communication. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations for software that can run on Windows, preferably on Windows 7 that can emulate a COM port device with basic text IO? It would be nice if I could use this software for free so freeware/open source software is best. Thank you.

Hello All, I have searched every forum and google etc but nothing directed me in right path. Requirement: I am using a COM object which can be initialized only once. But, when I try with webapi the first run goes fine and the rest fails as the COM object does not allow initialization for second time. With the below code, I notice that the new COMClass(); is being triggered everytime there is a GET request. I had to map a network drive with specific credentials in my PHP script and it kept falling over because I'd already navigated to the drive in windows explorer. This snippet will unmap a network drive using COM regardless of whether or not there is a drive letter associated with it or not. I can call this bit of code before I attempt the mapping to make sure that the program doesn't fall over.

I'm currently pulling out information from column B in an Excel worksheet + the worksheet name. How would I go about pulling information from column J (which has the same start row/end row as the information pulled out from column B) in the same worksheet and assigning it to the object property $apps.location?
