Hi all, So before I went and posted ~800 lines of code, I have 2 questions: 1: What is the preferred way for us to post "complex" C++ (of course, this is just a .h, .cpp, and main cpp but it's still a lot of lines) that wont just be obnoxious to read/debug? (I guess.. what is the proper etiquette here?) 2: Maybe I don't have to post it, and I can get theory help - I have a socket server that spawns threads with mutexes to control everything as needed (I think I am doing it right). When I …

Hello , I am not Linux and Unix expert so maybe this is a simple question to be answered , I am just not sure. I have a sever with 8 cores (running CENTOS) that executes a batch job once a day for few minutes . I tried to monitor the CPU usage foreach core when the batch is executed using the top command and then pressing '1'. There I saw something really strange (for me). Initially I saw that job being executed in Cpu5 (it was obvious because it is a job that needs almost 100% of the CPU …

Hello Daniweb Community, I've finally gotten around to doing it but can someone for the love of god please help me and give me help with fixing my slow ass laptop. I have only recently purchased it, as soon as I set it up I installed Windows 10 (coming from Windows 8.1) then from there I started installing all the same programs I had on my previous laptop (which is also running Windows 10, but runs fine) and it's just running so slow like it could sometimes take about 5 minutes to load [Facebook](http://facebook.com) or even if I go to …

Hi. In August I built a PC using a second hand Biostar TA990FXE "Extreme Edition" motherboard and AMD FX-6100 six core CPU @3.3 GHz at the core of it. I recently installed the Oracle Virtualbox VM on Windows 10 and tried running a couple of Linux and BSD OS instances, during which I noticed that task manager was reporting (at times) the CPU clocking at up to 3.87 GHz (or ~17% over the quoted maximum). Note that over clocking options were disabled in the BIOS at the time. I am just curious as to whether this is due to the …

I have i5-2430M on an acer aspire 4750z laptop, then last year I upgrade the ram with DDR3-1600 CAS 11, now I am confused because in the ark.intel.com it was stated that memory type should be DDR3 1066/1333. Now my question is why the ram still supported by the cpu(core i5-2430M) that is not listed in the arc.intel.com? and i was also planing to expand the ram of my laptop, does my cpu can support DDR3-1600 CAS 9 or DDR3-14900 CAS 10? I will appreciate for any help will come Thank you, PS. sorry for my bad english

Hello! I'm working on a program at work for a device we are building, it's a device that (basically) in real-time reads in sensors, makes decisions about said data, and performs output. I have a loop that runs, and then calculates how long to sleep, so we can get as close as we can as possible to looping approx every second. It sends data over the internet to our servers where we have a web interface, and the ability to send commands back to the unit. It also runs a node server on the unit with a similar web interface. …

I'm building a destkop and working somewhat on a budget. I have came down to 2 CPUS that I can choose from. I need to know which one of these CPU's would perform better and faster. The AMD APU A8 - 7600 or the Intel i3 - 4160? The AMD has more cores but on certain websites I see that they say that the Intel out performs the AMD. This to me is very strange as the AMD has more cores. Also, if I buy an AMD FX processor, do I need to buy a GPU for displaying my screen, …

I saw lots of old threads on this problem but could not find a solution so I thought I would share my experience and solution. Hi, I just had a problem that my cpu and case fans would not switch off after shutdown. It turned out to be a dvi-d connector for my graphics card from a vga monitor. It had an option for a usb power boost I.e I could plug the micro usb end into the adaptor and the other into a normal usb to provide power to initiate the diplay. It seems I did not need to …

I've been given a six-pages report to make, and the task is: **Imagine you're a computer engineer who is working on data processing, software development of gaming and user’s application, which requires computer with high-end processing power. Which processors (i7 OR FX-8350) is going to be of your choice for your computer system? Give the comparison (INCLUDING architecture comparison) of the two CPUs, all the advantages and disadvantages of the processors.** Hope someone could shed a light on this choice matter, and at least give me a share of opinions with reasons (suggestively in a listed form) of which processor …

Hello, I've got a question about a project in my operating systems class. The task was to create a program that lets the user choose a variety of cpu scheduling algorithms and simulates them with random data or data from a file. I've already done it for first come first serve, shortest job first, and priority. I've got the round robin code to work I think I just have no idea how to calculate the average wait time (AWT) or average turn around time(ATT). Here is my code for FCFS algorithm: void FCFS(job jobList[iterationsToRunTest][numJobs], results &output) { queue <job> q; …

I made great progress this morning in resolving a number of problems that were plaguing my Win7 laptop. It was difficult to find good info about how to resolve these problems. I can provide more details if anyone needs them. Here are the bare bones: * **High CPU** There are a number of common programs that churn the CPU. These are known problems but the Software companies don't seem to care. **CONDUIT Search Protect** From what I've read, this is almost like a virus. Softronic Download service has an agreement with them and include this in their 'Express' downloads. If …

I am using CPU Sim to change wombat1 to wombat2 by adding stack. I have done adding a Stack RAM and a Stack pointer SPR. I have implemented a push instruction as such: acc->mdr mdr->Stack[SPR] End The implementation is able to push the acc value to Stack but not able to point to the next location to store the next value. For incrementing am I suppose to use Inc2-pc? And the pop instruction is popping out the address of the value instead of the value. The implementation of pop is: ir(4-15)->mar Stack[SPR]->mdr mdr->acc End Can anyone point out what I …

The only thing that happens is that the fan in a few seconds maxed out on rpm. I did search google and i found it can be a broken psu or a bad cmos battery. Both replaced. when I replaced the PSU the computer worked for a day. I wanted to install windows today and the same problem again, CPU fan …

There is a canada computers nearby (canadacomputers.com) where I can buy liquid cooling setups and my Coolermaster Silensio case has ports for liquid cooling. I am wondering where it gets the liquid. Hello This problem is occuring on my Dell Latitude Cp[I]i[/I] A400XT. I just reinstalled Windows ME to try to resolve the problem however the system monitor reports that the cpu is 36-79% in use all the time (even after 10min of being idle). I asked for help in another thread (called Battery life mistakenly posted in the networking forum) but I didn't really want users to post too much about the cpu (I thought it was just some random program always running but it is not) So here I am asking for help. Does anyone know the solution? Thanks, javanoob101
