Thanks for overwhelming response. How do you ensure efficient cache management with Memcached in such a
distributed
system, especially when fetching multiple items per page while minimizing cache misses?

Good question. We have multiple web servers that are load balanced, and only 2 database servers in a master/slave setup. I know there are ways to shard the database so you could essentially put different records of a table on different servers, but I personally have no experience with that. I am pretty sure you can shard by row or by column. We …

What if one of the laptops was on your desk, and the other laptop was on your robot? Something your "dual core" processor could never do.

[QUOTE=Salem;683381]What if one of the laptops was on your desk, and the other laptop was on your robot? That does bring up a good point though; one that was discussed yesterday. Another …

How are you proposing to divide up the work between 2 laptops (if that's the way you go)? One for each side, so each has one eye, arm, and one side of wheels? Or one for all input sensors, and another for all movement? Or maybe something else, say either could do any job based on current work load? A single multi-core CPU would probably mean you …

There are several options, most of them make the protocol significantly more complex. The goal would be to verify the client and/or the response. You could start each conversation with some kind of challenge and response. Where your code would know how to respond and a fake client would have to reverse engineer the correct response. You could…

yeah I understand the whole thing with the challenge/response protocol but my problem is that couldn't , if reverse engineered well, that be replicated to cause hazardous results. Because the client could forge all of the responses needed to trick the server into thinking its legitimate. I mean they could technically just send the checksum or hash …
