I'm sorry about the
downtime
today fellas. DaniWeb was unfortunately down from about 3pm to 8pm EST, due to complications performing a routine upgrade to the server. Unfortunately, I didn't catch that there was a problem until 8PM, when I got home from school (last day of class btw!), so that is why it took so long. I apologize!! - Dani :)

There really hasn't been any consistant
downtime
. We were down two or three times over the past week, with no time being for more than an hour, in addition to about 5 hours during which DaniWeb was read-only while the database was being transferred to the new server.

Hey folks ... I'd like to apologize for the half hour of server
downtime
we had. The database crashed down on me and, even after restoring it, it still wasn't working. Turns out the hard drive got filled up by old .sql backups I was keeping. All in all ... we lost about 15 minutes of posts - I'm sorry everyone!

Server downtime when exporting a database using MySQL Workbench?

Just a quick question. I am using Workbench to export a database stored on my hoting providers server, will the server experience any
downtime
whilst I am exporting the data? The only reason I ask is because when I back up my local SQL database my server needs to be switched offline for it to work. All comments will be much appreciated. Ben
