I want to start an ecommerce site, but don't know where to start. I will be starting a photo website pretty soon, but I am looking to also sell cameras and other photo related items.

Hello Daniweb Community, I was wondering if someone could help me with the PayPal PHP SDK (version 1.3.2), I'm just going off the examples they have provided [here](http://paypal.github.io/PayPal-PHP-SDK/sample/) focusing on [this](http://paypal.github.io/PayPal-PHP-SDK/sample/doc/payments/CreatePaymentUsingPayPal.html) I was just wondering if there is a way to attach delivery instructions (coming from the website, sending them to the API).

I'm not your average male shopper. I'll go to the department store and try on a bunch of clothes before I decide on what I want to wear. I'll try on 5 different pairs of jeans before I choose one. I want to get the one that fits me best and looks good. So I picked up a couple of items, and as you can imagine, that took away a good chunk of my day. It isn't exactly fun standing in a dressing room with all sorts of pins and needles on the floor. Some of my friends prefer to …

Here's my problem: - I have a static site with Google Analytics tracking code. - To buy one of my services, users call me, and when their order is ready (many days later), I send them an e-mail link to a special page (download.php) where I have GA tracking code that is executed the first time they visit, so I track a "sale". - The issue is, GA thinks that "sale" was a separate visit, and erroneously shows that only direct visits to my site result in sales. I don't understand how I can view stats (Pages / Visit, Avg. …

Finlandia Group brings out an interesting comparative study regarding the E-commerce market in Finland in respect of U.S. The reason behind the comparison is to highlight how much the Finns are different or more precisely are lagging behind the major country ruling the scene of E-commerce presently. In America, the proportion of internet users presently is 74.9% of entire population. Of this, most of the internet users here, say around 82% are likely to shop for the products online and only a minor rate of 18% would visit the stores physically. If we consider the present situation, USA seems to …

Hello, I'm developing an e-commerce site in a LAMP environment. Is it advisable to separate data on to different servers (i.e. to have one server as the web server and another server to house transaction and other customer data)? In other words, from a security perspective is there any reason why I should not house all the data both for the e-commerce webshop and all backend customer and transaction data on a single machine and even in a single database)? [with daily backups of course]. Thanks in advance... Peter

Hello, I am trying to set up E-Commerce using Magento. I was wondering if I need SSL for it. If all the transactions are through PayPal then do I need it? And if I do need SSL, can I use shared or does it have to be private. Thanks

When I test against the sage servers, everything passes except the cart contents. Is there anyone out there that has encountered the same problem when combining a custom cart, or that can offer any help or advice? I have attached the file that is causing the problem

Hello fellow database enthusiasts ! :) A friend of mine owns a print shop, and business isn't going well right now. So he has asked me to develop him a website. The website's aim is to allow people to make orders for prints. I'm stronger in ASP.NET than I am in PHP. So I was thinking I would go with ASP.NET (C#). My question is this. Should I start from scratch ? Or Would it be better to get something e-commerce that's Open Source and tweak it to do that job ? I await your response. Thank You.

Hi All, can anyone suggest the e-commerce engine which is well adopted to sell virtual content (e.g. downloadable content, subscriptions, promo codes)? I tried Virtuemart for Joomla and Ubercart for Drupal, but they both are really limited and don't provide the "off the shelf" flexibility for virtual goods.

Could anyone provide insight into at what price point you would stop selling through an e-commerce site and move to a face to face, consultative sales model? I have a client who is eager to have an e-commerce offering but I am pretty certain their price points or their business model for implementing their products is conducive to an e-commerce application.
