I've been trying to find a way to filter the Event Viewer in Windows by the description instead of the event type/source etc. I figure that i need to use the XML tab to customise it as there is no option in the basic filtering for what I want. One reason why I want to do this is to find when I service was started. The sytem logs show when services stop and start but they all have the same event ID, Event Type and Source. The "description" I'm referring to is the text you see in the "General" tab. …

Hi there, I have been trying to fix the problem in the below code for a long time, it did work for me at some point. Then, it suddenly stopped storing user's details in a session. $user = $_POST['username']; $pass = $_POST['password']; $query = "SELECT username, password FROM USERS WHERE username = '$user' AND password='$pass' "; $result = mysql_query($query) or mysql_error(); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); if( $row['username'] == $user ){ $_SESSION['username'] = $row['username']; $_SESSION['password'] = $row['password']; header('Location:settings.php'); } and this is the form where the above mentioned script gets the values from echo "<form action='log_in.php' method='post' >"; echo "<input type='text' name='username' …

Hi all, I'm looking for a good tool for analysing Windows Server Event Logs. Basicaly, I want to be able to filter by types of entries or content, and search. If it has some smarts built in for things like highlighting suspicious behaviour that would be great too. I need to be able to monitor/review IIS activity and Active Directory access. Any recommendations? cheers /H

In working on a logfile for an application, I needed to limit the size of the logfile to 1000 bytes. Since it is not possible to delete lines from a file in C++, I used the following steps: Rename the logfile to a temporary name. Read the temporary file. Write the last 1000 bytes to a new logile. Delete the temporary file. I tested my code on another machine (location: Desktop) and it worked perfectly. When I tested the exact same code inside the application (location of the logfile: /var/HHPVideoServer/log.txt, application is run as sudo), it has no effect. Here …

What i want to do is put this into a users startup folder so i know when they got on to the computer. However, if the jar is in the folder nothing happens. If i put a .bat file in the folder with the code
javaw -jar LoginLogger.jar
it gives me an error saying that LoginLogger.jar could not be accessed. But if I double click the bat it works fine. Just not at startup. Does anyone know whats wrong …
