Hello everyone, I have a website I am working on. On this site, I have a form that when you search for just one term, say "legs", it is supposed to pull up everything that is "legs", but not "legs" with "stability ball". My form uses the search term q[] as its name. I will post that in a bit. So what I it to do is search the DB that I have called libvid, to pull the main content like "legs" then when you search additional terms like "stability ball", or "Shoulders" with "Resistance Bands" or even "Glutes", "legs" …

Microsoft got some bad news this week when it found out that Yahoo Japan, unlike its U.S. parent company, will be partnering with Google, rather than Microsoft's search engine, Bing. The decision means that most of the Internet searches originating in Japan will use Google's search engine rather than Bing. Yahoo Japan is currently the leading search engine in Japan and handles over half of search activity. Yahoo Japan CEO Masahiro Inoue said in a press conference that, "At the present time, we feel there are quite a few areas where Microsoft is not yet ready. Google is one step …

How would you create a basic search engine? Could this search engine also search based upon tags? (Not searching a site or database but just a .txt document) Thanks in advance!

My google searches are getting redirected to other searche engines and blank pages but it doesn't happen all the time it just depends on what I'm searching for. I'm not sure if I have the google redirect virus since I don't alway get redirected but when I do I can never get to where I want. I have used AVG, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, ESET online scanner, SUPERAntiSpyware to solve the problem but none of them could pick anything up. Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone, I'm currently working on a java GUI that enables a user to search words from a file. It also needs to use two binary searches. Kind of like how Google and Facebook has their searches displaying recommendations after every prefix is typed. I need help on how to get this started. Thanks in advance!

Sure, looking for news stories with a search engine can tell you about the past, but a new application might act more like a very comprehensive crystal ball. A search engine prototype created by Yahoo's Barcelona lab lets users look into the future -- sort of.The application was revealed this week as part of the Human-Computer Interaction and Information Retrieval challenge, which uses more than 1.8 million New York Times articles from 1987 to 2007 as its data set. I work as a web developer for a small-to-medium sized company. We're not huge, but we do business throughout the entire US and internationally because our service is very niche. We repair and remanufacture gas station and car wash products. We sell to distributors, who in turn service individual gas stations and car washes. Last summer I was primarily tasked with making the website not suck (because it did). Now, it's decent in terms of layout, markup, and content, but it does not have much in the way of search engine optimization. Optimizing it is my main job this summer. …

Am completing a website and can't get the final piece to work which is the search engine. Have tried implementing Google's OnTheFly script which works up pop up a new window but only puts out "The resource you have requested could not be found." each and everytime. This was the script they said to paste in: <!-- Use of this code assumes agreement with the Google Custom Search Terms of Service. --> <!-- The terms of service are available at http://www.google.com/cse/docs/tos.html --> <form name="cse" id="searchForm" method="post" action="http://www.google.com/cse"> <input type="hidden" name="cref" value="" /> <input type="hidden" name="ie" value="utf-8" /> <input type="hidden" name="hl" …

It's not exactly news that the relationship between Google and China has soured over the last month or two and it looks as though Google may quit China soon leaving the vastly lucrative Chinese market to Microsoft and others. What's not clear is what the implications will be for the search giant which has found itself caught up in the political machinations of a repressive Chinese government. The story sounds like the start of a John le Carre novel, but the fact is it's very real and the stakes very high. A new search engine officially launches today, the same day as the World Climate Summit in Copenhagen commences. According to Ecosia you can help battle climate change by switching away from Google and here's how. Not only will the new guy on the search block give 80% of the advertising revenue it earns to a World Wildlife Fund environmental protection project to help save the Amazon rain forest (and therefore reduce global warming and save polar bears in case you were wondering) but it also reckons each search will use much less electricity than Google Ecosia will also be running …
