As if carpal tunnel, driving while texting and the possibility that your cell phone might be seeding a tumor in your brain weren't enough, meet another new ailment of the information age -- Text Neck. The phrase was coined by Florida chiropractor, exercise physiologist and entrepreneur Dean Fishman, who tells Daniweb that he came up with the phrase after beginning to see "an increase in frequency of younger people presenting to my office with complaints of headaches, neck and arm pain and discomfort." He says all the young patients used texting as a primary form of communication and spent a …

This bot has some common functions, along with some not so common. I've been using this code to text my wife from work when my phone dies. Requirements:

Gmail account (for texting)
xgoogle (for lang translation)
I know it is messy, and the variables are named poorly; sorry. I swear they made since at the time of initial coding :$ Once the bot is in the channel you send it commands denoted with '^'. Last night while watching my usual list of recorded television programs, I saw a commercial for KGB, the company that begs you to text them with your questions. Google stock was up yesterday, down this morning and everyone has an opinion for the yo-yo effect currently frustrating Google investors. At the top of the list of issues is actually a projected issue – Google’s first quarter earnings which come out on Thursday. The sentiment is a downward one on Google earnings, with the stagnant economy finally catching up to Google and its decade of fairly unbelievable profit-taking. There have been a lot of firsts for the Internet search giant this year. Its first round of layoffs occurred in March, with 340 heads on the proverbial chopping block. Company …

New laws have just come into force in the UK which apply to motorists who cause death as a result of careless driving. The Road Safety Act 2006 has been changed to incorporate distractions such as changing the radio station, applying make-up or eating a sandwich while behind the wheel. It has also been beefed up so that whereas last week someone found guilty of the offense would have been facing a maximum UKP £5000 fine and some driving license penalty points, this week they are facing up to five years in jail. It gets better, or worse I guess …

According to Airwide Solutions, which is well placed to comment on such matters as it is a provider of mobile messaging infrastructure amongst other things, the SMS (short message service) we all better know as text messaging will hit record highs on New Years Day. In fact, you can think of January 1st 2008 as being the SMS Text Olympics. But who will the winners be? Well, according to the bean counters at Airwide at least, the US is expected to hit a staggering 730 million messages sent on the big day while the UK will put in a credible …
