I'm an absolute beginner at Python and programming in general (my experience is measured in days, not weeks or months!).
Been toying with the idea of learning Python for quite a while and a need arose for something to notify me of rss feed updates at work; out IT department has blocked feed capabilities on Thunderbird and Firefox. They are happy for me to do something I run on a computer at home that sends me email alerts at work and they suggested Python might be good.
Been using linux for about 5 years, but don't know anywhere near as much as I should.
Outside of computers, I'm a news junkie (a journalist by trade), an addict of formulaic TV like CSI, SVU and House, and a great fan of imported beers:)
