Back in New York, I had an office for as long as I can remember. Ever since to California 8 years ago, I've worked from home. My husband began working from home 2 days a week ever since late 2022 and we're still adjusting.
For many years now, as a company, we stopped even having an office. It didn't make any sense since we all work from home. After COVID, we don't even meet in person in my department regularly as we did, especially since some of us are now living in other cities. I miss two things the most from working for a company in an office. The first is that you get real time feedback when you are brainstorming an idea, not from a manager, but from your peers. The second is the new thinking directions that small talk with other programmers might lead you to.
