I am 36 y/o and trying to get into a career. I have a BS in MIS and graduated about 3 years agoMy current job is pretty mundane, but it has its little moments. It involves lead generation for a Sales Process Outsourcing company ( read: IT marketing in a call center). I am not to proud to do this type of work, because I can really blaze a trail on the lead-gen for our clients. We are owned by a VERY large IT hardware distributor and alot of marketing dollars get pushed our way for lead-gen programs and other campaigns, so it is a fiscally stable atmosphere. Before Iget totally burned out though, I am trying to decide whether to really compete in this job for a career, or just do the required work and keep looking for something.
My problem is that distinguishing myself as an IT professional seems hopeless in this environment and I wondered if any of you MIS/CIS grads pursued a career in the channel distribution industry and how it was working out. Your thoughts (and criticisms) are welcome.....
