do graphics card go in notebooks? if so would a GeForce 6800 or ATI Radeon X850 fit?

You will want to get a video card specifically designed for laptops. The Nvidia Go series cards should work fine.

Sure. I would recommend to upgrade to a Intel core 2 duo.
