you can start out by learning the basics in html. use free programs like kompozer.
you can check out this site for html tips, codes and tricks www.web-source.net
then watch videos and tutorials from www.tutvid.com or www.w3school.com is really good too.

I started out using TextPad (www.textpad.com) you can code with html, css, javascript, java, and more. It recoginizes the code and turns the correct code blue.
