• Static-site hosts that give a free subdomain and HTTPS: GitHub Pages, GitLab Pages, Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare Pages. Ideal for HTML/CSS/JS sites and static generators.
• Site builders with free plans: WordPress.com, Blogger, Wix — easy editors but often show provider branding and limit advanced access.
• Low-cost shared hosts: inexpensive plans give a temporary subdomain plus PHP/MySQL and email, useful if server-side features are required.

Quick workflow example for a static site

• Create a repo named username.github.io, add an index.html, then git add ., git commit -m "initial", and git push. Enable Pages (or follow the host's publish steps) and the site will be served at the host-provided subdomain.

Migration and cautions

• Pick a host that supports custom-domain mapping later. When a domain is purchased, set CNAME/A records per the host docs and keep local backups of site content.
