Whilst surfing the internet my computer crashed, came up with an error and then restarted itself. When it had come back into my account there was a 'delself' icon on my desktop and a red circle with a white cross telling me I was infected and to download something in order to "pervent" this. Now those two are the only changes, apart from my computer being a little slower, that I have recognised.
After googling how to deal with it I ran Spybot which found somethign but fixing it did not get rid of either symptom. I then checked the start>run>msconfig but could not find any of the files I was asked to look for. I finally downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan and after fixing the problems found te red circle with a white cross is gone and I deleted the 'delself' icon.
I am now worried as to whether there is a virus that either of my programs haven't detected because my computer is still running a little slower (although I could just be paranoid) and I am afraid to enter personal details on the internet.
Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the Daniweb forums :).

==========

Download HijackThis Executable from here. Save it to your desktop.
Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and then go to the format Tab and make sure that wordwrap is unchecked. Copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.
